Earn the right to use RFP

Affiliate Member (Undesignated Member)
Affiliate membership to RFPI is open to anyone with an active interest in financial planning and who agrees to observe the RFPI code of ethics. Upon acceptance of an Affiliate membership, the applicant agrees to complete a 120 hour course of study, that RFPI recognizes, within two (2) years. After an Affiliate member finishes said course of study, they must then EITHER:

A. Attend a RFPI approved classroom course; or
B. Complete a RFPI  approved correspondence course; or
C. Complete a similar approved course offered by various organizations and schools of higher education.

As an
Undesignated Member you will receive:
  • Personalized membership card
  • A subscription to the RFPI online newsletter
  • Listing on the RFPI member website

    * The Affiliate member is not permitted to use the Registered Financial Planners Institute's designation (RFP) until meeting all educational and experience requirements.

    - Cost: $75.00 annual dues and a one time processing fee of $25.00.
    -
    Payment must be included with application. Check, Visa or MasterCard accepted.

RFP Designation (Registered Financial Planner)
The applicant must have at least two (2) years financial planning experience in their respective field, must have already completed 120 hours of approved education, and show evidence of passing exams related to area(s) of expertise (varies according to educational requirements) , OR

A. Attended a RFPI approved classroom course; or
B. Completed a RFPI approved correspondence course; or
C. Completed a similar approved course offered by various organizations and schools of  higher education.

Upon evidence of completion and approved application for membership you will receive:

  • Personalized RFPI designation, wall certificate, and membership card
  • RFPI Logo stickers
  • Subscription to the RFPI online newsletter
  • RFPI Lapel pin
  • Listing on the RFPI member website
  • Plus various other materials

    - Cost: $150.00 annual dues and a one time processing fee of $50.00.
    - Payment must be included with application (Check, Visa, or Mastercard accepted).

SRFP Designation (Senior Registered Financial Planner)
Applicant must have at least five (5) years financial planning in their respective field, at least an associates degree or equivalent an emphasis on personal taxation, a minimum of 60 hours of education in estate & retirement planning, and a minimum of 30 hours of education in investment products. Upon approval of application, you will receive:

  • Personalized SRFP designation, wall certificate, and membership card
  • SRFP Logo stickers
  • RFP Lapel pin
  • Subscription to the RFPI online newsletter
  • Listing on the RFPI member website
  • Plus various other materials

    - Cost: $150.00 annual dues and a one time processing fee of $50.00.
    -
    Payment must be included with application. Check, Visa or MasterCard accepted.

IMPORTANT
Candidates must fully complete an application form and meet any other qualification criteria as applicable to the RFPI Affliate, RFP, or SRFP designations. The Board and Admissions Director will review all qualifications and experience and will assign the appropriate designation. Failure to pay the institute's annual dues in any year after the initial application or failure to submit CEU's shall result in a forfeiture of the previously assigned designation, a requirement to return the RFPI membership card, and relinquishment of the right to any further use of the RFPI name and designation(s).

A MEMBER MAY BE EXPELLED, SUSPENDED OR DISCIPLINED IF:

1. Violates any of the code of ethics, state laws or federal laws in the country member practices.
2. Has been found guilty by the board of directors of any act discrediting to the financial planning profession.
3. By not fulfilling twenty (20) hours of continuing education’s every three (3) years in their respective field of financial planning or courses relating to such subject.
4. Failure to be a member in good standing with RFPI.
